1.1.5. Keys for the car equipped with an immobilizer
GENERAL INFORMATION

Label with number of a series of keys

 You store a label with number of a series of keys in the safe place (for example in a wallet), to store a label in the car it is not allowed.

If you suddenly lose keys, or you need the duplicate, then according to number on a label them can make in service of BMW car service.

It is also possible to put the copy of number of keys together with own documents.


The car is completed with two keys

The main key (black color) – approaches all locks. This key is necessary for service of BMW car service for production of a new key with the built-in chip of a radio beacon (transponder).

The spare key (usually gray color) – approaches all locks except the trunk lid lock.

The chip of a radio beacon (transponder) from which the lock works is built in heads of the main and spare keys. Therefore, do not lose keys at all. If you make own duplicate, then will not be able to cause operation of security system or to start the engine.

For protection of the things locked in a luggage carrier at the parking of the car leave a spare key to the accompanying person.

Always you keep around the duplicate of the main key on a case of unforeseen locking of keys in the car at a zakhlopyvaniye of doors and trunk lids.

Prevention

Follow the following rules of precaution when using of keys with the built-in chip.


1. At start of the engine finding of a ringlet of a key on a head is not allowed, it is forbidden to turn a key for a ringlet, and also to press a ringlet on a key head. Otherwise the engine cannot be started, or after start-up to decay.

2. At start of the engine keys to the built-in chip should not adjoin with each other (and also to keys from other car). Do not press to a key head in the ignition lock other keys flatwise. Otherwise the engine cannot be started, or after start-up to decay.

3. It is forbidden to bend a key head.

4. It is forbidden to cover a key head with the materials reflecting electromagnetic waves.

5. It is forbidden to subject a key to impacts with other objects.

6. Do not subject a key to long influence of the increased temperature, for example influence of direct sunshine when finding a key on the dashboard, or on a cowl.

7. The contact of a key with water or washing in ultrasonic cleaning installation is not allowed.

8. It is not allowed to use a key together with the materials having the expressed electromagnetic properties.

System of an immobilizer (recognition of a code of launch of the engine)

The immobilizer is anticreeping system. When the ignition key is inserted into the lock a chip of a radio beacon develops the coded signal which is perceived by anticreeping system of the car. The engine will be started only if the transmitted coded signal completely coincides with an identification code of the car.

When the key gets from the lock of ignition there is an automatic installation of an identification code. When the key of this car is inserted into the ignition lock, transferred code cancels action of the anticreeping system interfering start of the engine.

Number of a key and the main key is necessary for production of a new key in BMW car service. It is necessary to remember that there is a limit on quantity of keys which can make in BMW car service.

The self-made duplicate it is impossible to disconnect anticreeping system and to start the engine.

Locking of a door key

 For locking of a door turn a key towards a forward part of the car, for unlocking – to its back part.

On the cars equipped with the electric drive of door locks all doors of salon and a back door (only in bodies the versatile person) open and locked along with a door from the driver.


For locking of a door press the button, for unlocking of a door wring out the button.

If necessary to lock a door, being outside, press the button then slam a door. When closing a door it is necessary to hold the door handle in the pressed situation. At a zakhlopyvaniye of a door do not forget to take away keys from salon.
