2.13. Check, adjustment and replacement of belts of the drive of hinged units

GENERAL INFORMATION

Characteristic types of wear of wedge-shaped belts
1. Cracks

2. Oiling

3. Always check a condition of a belt from the inside

4. Brightness

Check of a tension of a belt

1. Deflection

2. The ruler has to be perpendicular to whetstone

3. Whetstone

4. Ruler

The quantity of belts of the drive depends on a car complete set. Belts have wedge-shaped section and are used for the drive of the generator, power steering, pump of cooling liquid and the conditioner. One belt can be used for the drive of several units.

Open a cowl and check fingers a condition of belts from two parties, overwinding belts (see rice. Characteristic types of wear of wedge-shaped belts).

Check a belt tension in deflection size in the middle between pulleys (see rice. Check of a tension of a belt). If distance between centers of pulleys of 180-280 mm the deflection has to be 6 mm, and at distance between centers of 300-400 mm the deflection has to be 13 mm.

Adjustment
PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. The belt is regulated by movement of the corresponding unit in arm grooves (if the belt is connected to two units, then also one of these units moves).
2. Movement of the unit is provided with an adjusting bolt concerning an axis. These bolts it is necessary to weaken and displace the unit. On a part of cars adjustment of a tension is provided with rotation of an adjusting bolt after an otpuskaniye of a lock bolt.
3. Having released bolts, displace the unit in the necessary party, having pulled or having released a belt, tighten bolts, check a tension, and if the belt is adjusted correctly, tighten bolts.

Replacement

For replacement of a belt perform the same preliminary procedures, as for adjustment then take off a belt from pulleys. All belts are recommended to be changed at the same time. Before removal designate each belt and the corresponding pulley.

At acquisition compare a new belt with replaced.

After the run of the first several hundred kilometers check a belt tension.
