Prevention
The top cover of a chain can be removed separately. Removal of both covers requires the special tool.
Removal
| PERFORMANCE ORDER |
| 1. Disconnect the battery from weight. |
| 2. For removal of the lower cover remove the fan with a casing (see subsection 4.6), radiator (see subsection 4.5) of and a fan belt pulley (see subsection 4.6). |
| 3. Remove the pump of cooling liquid (see subsection 4.7). |
| 4. On a part of cars uncover the ignition distributor, runner and a plastic casing of black color under the runner. |
| 5. Uncover a head of cylinders (see subsection 3.1.5). |
| 6. If the lower cover is removed, then turn off a crankshaft pulley bolt, having recorded it BMW 11 2 100 adaptation or equivalent, or having stopped a flywheel through an observation port the big screw-driver. Remove a pulley a stripper, captures of a stripper have to rest against a wall of an internal flute of a pulley. |

7. Turn off a cap and get a spring of a natyazhitel of a chain and a plunger, meaning considerable effort of straightening of a spring. |
| 8. Turn off bolts and nuts and remove the top cover. Sketch an arrangement of each bolt of fastening that at assembly to wrap them on former places. If necessary displace a cover blows of the Hummer through a wooden pro-rate. |

9. Turn off bolts and nuts of fastening of the lower cover. Keep in mind that from below the cover fastens 3 bolts to the oil pallet of the engine, it is necessary to release all bolts of the pallet. Turn off 3 specified bolts of fastening of a cover of a chain to the oil pallet. |
| 10. The sharp knife inserted under laying between a cover and the pallet, carefully not to damage laying, separate the lower cover. |
| 11. Destroy by easy blows of the Hummer through a pro-rate consolidation between a cover and the block of cylinders, uncover. |
| 12. Carefully clear the condensed planes of a cover and the block of cylinders of the remains of consolidations, having taken measures against damage of the planes. |

Installation
| PERFORMANCE ORDER |
| 1. Replace a forward epiploon (see subsection 3.1.12). |
2. Apply sealant drops on the demountable planes of the pallet and the lower cover of a chain, and also to the place of a joint of laying and the block of cylinders.
Prevention
If laying of the pallet in the place of a prileganiye of a cover of a chain is damaged, then it is possible to cut off a part of the old laying supporting the block of cylinders and to replace it with a piece from new laying which in accuracy corresponds to replaced. Paste a laying piece to the pallet special glue and put RTV sealant drops.

| 3. Establish new laying of the lower cover, having greased it with sealant and gradually tighten fastening bolts with the set moment in a cross order. At first tighten bolts of fastening of a cover to the block of cylinders, then bolts of fastening of the pallet. At an excessive vystupaniye of laying cut it on a contour. After putting sealant assembly should be finished not later than in 10 min., otherwise sealant will harden. |
| 4. Establish the top cover of a chain, having cut off an edge the acting parts of laying. |
| 5. Further assembly is carried out upside-down. |
